Great-Grandmother of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Tabitha Longfellow was born Tabitha Bragdon in York, Maine on December 1, 1723, daughter of Samuel Bragdon and Tabitha Banks. She married Stephen Longfellow II on October 19, 1749. Stephen was Falmouth's first schoolmaster and filled many important civic offices. Her stone is located in Eastern Cemetery in Portland, Maine. I love the use of the word "consort" in her inscription. At that time, it simply meant "wife". Each necklace is handmade and therefore unique. These photos represent a typical necklace with the Tabitha Longfellow design. It is hung from an 18" black suedette cord with a two inch extender so the length is adjustable.
